Bucharest Stock Exchange Introduces Financial Education Section on BVB Research Hub
The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) has launched a new financial education section on the BVB Research Hub platform, dedicated to retail investors. As a capital market operator, BVB aims to enhance financial literacy and promote an investment culture through this initiative. The BVB Research Hub provides accessible, well-structured, and relevant resources to guide investors step by step through fundamental capital market concepts and mechanisms.
BVB’s vision is to develop a digital mini-library featuring introductory articles, tutorials, glossaries, and real-market case studies. This section caters to beginners taking their first steps in investing as well as experienced investors seeking to deepen their knowledge. In today’s fast-evolving financial landscape, access to clear and well-documented information can make the difference between a successful investment decision and one that leads to uncertainty.
“Through this initiative, we want to equip retail investors with the knowledge and tools necessary for making informed and responsible decisions. Financial education helps build a community of confident and well-prepared investors. As a capital market operator, we have the resources and the ideal platform—BVB Research Hub—to provide them with the information they need. The platform already serves as a valuable source of insights into BVB issuers, thanks to our recurring analysis reports. By adding an educational component, it transforms into a true hub of investment knowledge,” stated Radu Hanga, Chairman of the BVB Board of Directors.
Beyond covering basic investment products and services, the new section offers materials on risk management, investment strategies, and stock market index interpretation.
To foster interactive learning, BVB will continue hosting workshops on saving, investing, and entrepreneurship in collaboration with partner universities and financial experts. These sessions will provide participants with practical insights on effective budgeting and investment management.
Currently, BVB maintains educational partnerships with multiple universities across Romania. One notable collaboration is with the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies (ASE), where the modernization of an amphitheater—now named the Bucharest Stock Exchange Amphitheater—aims to facilitate student interactions with investment professionals through debates and capital market events.
BVB also runs the Corporate Governance that Creates Value program in partnership with Envisia–Boards of Elite. This initiative supports the professional development of board members in listed companies or those considering stock market listing.
Additionally, the BVB Arena project offers regional workshops conducted by capital market specialists, helping entrepreneurs understand investment opportunities and the listing process.
All educational materials available on the BVB Research Hub platform are developed by recognized capital market experts to promote long-term investment strategies based on reliable information.
“I firmly believe that spreading accurate and transparent information is essential for capital market development. A well-informed investor is a long-term partner of any stable and sustainable market. Education—particularly financial education—is a key indicator of a nation’s economic progress and prosperity. Through our communication efforts and ongoing initiatives, we support the investor community, striving to make it larger and more knowledgeable. The educational component of the BVB Research Hub is another step toward strengthening Romania’s investment culture,” said Adrian Tănase, BVB CEO.
Another crucial aspect of this initiative is promoting financial inclusion. By providing high-quality educational resources, BVB seeks to engage young people, early-career professionals, and individuals with capital who lack investment experience. The platform’s materials aim to break down barriers and dispel the misconception that capital market investments are reserved for a select few. BVB’s mission is to continuously improve content and adapt to the real needs of retail investors. Together, we can build a more transparent, accessible, and resilient capital market.
Over the years, BVB has led multiple financial education programs, with “Fluent in Finance” being the most extensive. Nearly five years after its launch, this program continues to have a positive impact. These efforts, combined with increased stock and bond listings, have contributed to the rise in retail investors, from approximately 54,000 in 2019 to 226,000 by the end of 2024.
