Trade balance deficit of EUR 15bn in 2018

Exports amounted in 2018 to EUR 67.73 billion and imports to EUR 82.86 billion, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs on Monday.

The exports increased by 8.1% and imports by 9.6% against the previous year.

The trade balance deficit thus reached EUR 15.13 billion, by EUR 2.17 billion larger against 2017.

Important shares in the exports and imports structures: transport equipment (47.3% of exports and 38% of imports), other manufactured goods (32.2% of exports and 30.5% of imports), INS also informs.

The intra-EU trade in 2018 amounted to EUR 51,981.4 billion for shipments and to EUR 61,874.1 billion for imports, i.e. 76.7% of exports and 74.7% of imports.

The extra-EU trade in 2018 amounted to EUR 15,751 billion for exports and to EUR 20,991.2 billion for imports, i.e. 23.3% of exports and 25.3% of imports.
