Finnish company Uponor has celebrated its 100th anniversary also in Bucharest, in a high-end event hosted by the Parliament Palace on Wednesday afternoon.

Uponor, ranked among the most important suppliers in the constructions industry on the heating, cooling, plumbing sector, was set up in 1918 by Uponor Aukusti Asko-Avonius, who established a carpentry workshop in Lahti, Finland. The company was to revolutionize the plumbing industry, on the path of a business based on innovation and strategic acquisitions.

The 100th anniversary is the perfect moment to proudly look behind to our company’s evolution, to review the most important achievements of the past generations and to confidently look to the future (…) Considering the upward trend of the urban share in the industrial countries (the forecast is 81.5% by 2030), we have identified the need to adjust our products to this dynamic lifestyle, in order to enable the quality of life both at work and in our spare time,” said Roxana Buzaeanu, Marketing Coordinator, Uponor Romania.

The anniversary event Uponor 100 Years “Look into the future” was also an opportunity for debates on what are the trends and challenges in the industry and how the buildings of the future will look like, on the BREEAM certifications or on the BIM technologies and digitalization.

Uponor, based in Vantaa, Finland, currently has over 4,000 employees in 30 countries and 14 production units. Uponor has a 20-year experience in Romania, selling the products in over 90 authorized stores. The company’s world sales mounted to EUR 1.15 billion in 2017.
