First electric bus crossing Transfagarasan high road with a single battery charge
For nearly a month, the first electric bus tested on the route of the Bucharest Public Transport Company (RATB)’s line 104, has managed to cross the Transfagarasan high road (the second-highest paved road of Romania) with a single battery charge, according to the initiators of the action, Anadolu Automobil Rom.
SOR, as it was named the bus, arrived at Balea Lake Cabin with over 20 percent of the battery, and it charged the batteries to over 60 percent to reach Sibiu. At the stopover for charging it had almost 30 percent of battery available.
The route was quite difficult, given that the traffic was heavy. The bus SOR EBN 10.5, made by SOR Libchavy, one of the largest makers of buses, trolleybuses and coaches in the Czech Republic, has an asynchronous liquid-cooled engine, Skoda Electric, electrical installation Cegelec and Winston Battery / Lithium-ion batteries. The vehicle has a capacity of 85 seats, a battery-charging time of 7 to 8 hours and an extra-urban autonomy of 250 kilometers.
