Mondelez Romania, the former Kraft Food, one of the biggest players in the sweets market, wants to sell the former Poiana chocolate factory in Brasov, for at least EUR 2 million (no VAT), according to bzb.ro.
The plant has not been operational since 2009, and the asset includes buildings and a land with an area of about 13,000 square meters.
The decision to give up the Poiana factory comes after Mondelez sold the dragees factory on Alexandru Ioan Cuza street to Lidl about three years ago.
Mondelez entered the Romanian market in the early 1990s when bought Poiana – Produse Zaharoase in Brasov and its two factories.
Modelez Romania, from which it has spun off the coffee division two years ago (resulting Jacobs Douwe Egberts Ro in partnership with D.E. Master Blenders), ended the year 2015 (the latest data available on mfinante.ro) with a turnover of RON 550 million, down 22 percent compared to the previous year.
