The election of Klaus Iohannis as President of Romania has had a positive impact in Germany and, in this respect, there is a greater willingness for Romania in the economic environment, Peter Alltschekow, Director Eastern Germany of ‘Germany Trade & Invest’ (GTAI) said on Wednesday in a press conference, alba24.ro.

He attended an economic mission in Transylvania, held by Centre Regional Development Agency (ADR) in Alba Iulia and Sibiu.

GTAI is the economic development agency of the Federal Republic of Germany and an organization which promotes Germany as a business and technology location and supports companies based in Germany with global market information.

“The novelty of this delegation is that we want to expand this sphere of cooperation to the other federal states of East Germany also, so now are present representatives of companies from other federated states, not only Brandenburg,” Alltschekow pointed out. It is about companies from the federated states of Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt.

The meetings between companies were focused on areas such as civil and industrial construction, wooden houses, supply of wood products, furnishings and clothing manufacturing, training, economic development etc.

„For 13 years we have very close relationships and very good results with Romania. 13 years ago we started a twinning project, which referred to strengthen the administrative capacity of the Region for joining EU. And after EU accession took place, we decided not to conclude this fruitful collaboration,” the GTAI official said.
