Sales of durable goods in Romania grew by 10.5 percent in the first half of this year over the same period in 2016 to EUR 1.177 billion, according to GfK Temax study, which also shows that the telecom and the small household appliances sector recorded the highest increases of 19.1 percent over the same period in 2016.
In the durable goods category are products such as vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, washing machines, TVs, computers, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, printers and cameras.
According to the study, the telecom market reached EUR 460 million in H1 of 2017, up by 19.1 percent compared to the same period last year, as sales of smartphones with medium and large diagonals increased two digits.
As regards small appliances, the market grew by 19.1 percent in the first six months of 2017 to EUR 91 million, according to GfK. The largest category of products, vacuum cleaners, saw a two-digit increase.
At the same time, the electronics market grew by 10.4 percent after the first seven monts of last year compared to they same period last year, to EUR 186 million, supported by higher demand for TVs, especially Smart TVs and Ultra HDs.
The IT systems market fell 2.1 percent at end-July period, to EUR 176 million, as the desktop market registered a small drop and the peripherals had the highest growth rates, followed by monitors.
