Flexible working hours, additional free days and the possibility to work from home are some of the main benefits received by employees of the Romanian business services industry, according to the study “Romania 2017 – Salary Guide Business Service Centers“, conducted by the Association of Business Service Leaders in Romania (ABSL), in collaboration with HAYS Talent Solutions. In terms of gross monthly salary, in Financial and Customer Support, the salary starts from RON 3,200 for a junior employee and can go up to about RON 14,000 for a Process Manager with certain specializations.
The Romanian business and outsourcing market has seen significant growth in recent years. It lures more and more investors due to the quality of human capital, respectively the Romanians’ technical and linguistic skills. These skills are sometimes financially rewarded by employers as a monthly bonus, with the use of a foreign language at work bringing up to RON 1,300/month gross, in the case of less frequently used foreign languages such as Danish, Finnish, Norwegian or Swedish.
At the same time, already existing shared business services centers expand the scope and complexity of processes and activities they support at regional or global level, leading to a high demand for workforce ready to join this industry and, at the same time, the necessity to retain current employees. More than 50% of respondents said the company plans to increase the number of employees over the next 12 months, either because it develops its customer portfolio or because it diversifies the services it offers to its current customers.
“Through this study, and through the Master Business Services program, which we conduct jointly with the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, ABSL supports the companies in the Romanian business services industry in their effort to identify skilled entry-level workforce, to be competitive in the recruitment process and to increase the motivation and retention of current employees. As this study has shown, the benefit system is constantly shaping after the employee profile – what are their needs, what motivates them to peak performance”, said Cosmin Pătlăgeanu, President of ABSL.
In the top of the benefits received by non-managerial employees of the Romanian business services industry, there is the possibility to have flexible working hours and additional free days for 74% of the companies responding to the study and, the next place with 70% of companies, the opportunity to have a salary bonus as a reward. The benefits include health insurance (59%) and the possibility to work from home (56%).
Most of the employees in managerial positions are rewarded with a company car that can also be used for personal purposes (75%).
The study involved 19 companies, operating in different areas of the business services industry, such as telecommunications, information technology, transport, commercial and professional services, banking, financial services, insurance.
The results of the study were presented at the annual ABSL conference, this year at its 5th edition, which brought together over 500 of the most important leaders and representatives of the prestigious companies in Romania. The complete study is available on the association’s website, https://www.absl.ro/press-room/#reports.
