In the Fiscal Year 2019 (September 1st, 2018 – August 31st, 2019), IKEA Romania sales reached more than 160 million euros (w/o VAT) – which is an increase of 15.2% in total sales and 35% in e-commerce when compared to the previous year. The share of online sales in the total turnover amounts to almost 25%, which puts Romania in the leading position in Ingka Group, followed by Croatia (20.1%) and the United Kingdom (18.2%).
“We are extremely satisfied with our performance in Romania and it makes us very proud that It continues to be one of our fastest-growing markets. We opened Pallady, our biggest store in South East Europe, as well as four pick up points around the country, ending the fiscal year with a total of 1344 coworkers, which is an increase of 20.4% when compared to the previous one. We will continue to invest both in our people and new formats in order to make IKEA even more affordable, accessible, and sustainable for the many people in Romania,” said Sara Del Fabbro, Country Retail Manager IKEA SEE.
More than 3.6 million people visited the Baneasa store, close to 22 million visitors Ikea website, while more than 202.360 orders were being placed online. Out of a record of more than 20 million IKEA products reaching the Romanian homes, 62% were furniture items and 38% were accessories. The OFTAST family of accessories and LACK family of furniture were the most popular ones, with INGOLF chair and OFTAST plate taking the lead in their respective categories.
