IKEA Southeast Europe, a division of the Swedish furniture retailer IKEA, will invest €47 million in this fiscal year (September 1, 2023 – August 31, 2024) to absorb costs and ensure lower prices in its stores. IKEA Romania will lower prices for 4,794 products, with an average decrease of 11.8%.

Throughout the fiscal year 2024 (September 1, 2023 – August 31, 2024), IKEA Romania will reduce prices for 4,794 products, with an average decrease of 11.8%. Additionally, some of the currently most affordable items will receive a long-term price reduction of up to 30%, while highly sought-after product families such as BESTÅ and PAX are priced 15% lower, according to a company statement.

The price reductions come within a broader context, as part of the retailer’s strategy for Southeast Europe, which involves investments aimed at eventually reaching pre-pandemic price levels adjusted for inflation.

Specifically, IKEA Southeast Europe will allocate €47 million throughout the fiscal year 2024 (September 1, 2023 – August 31, 2024) to absorb costs and ensure lower prices. The investment will cover all product ranges, with 46% of all items having a lower price in the long term.

The company will reduce the prices of the most popular products in each market where it operates in the region (Romania, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia). Many of the top product families – BESTÅ, KALLAX, MALM, FRIHETEN, PAX, POÄNG – are now priced lower, and discounts are expected across the range in the coming months, with a focus on storage solutions.
“Observing some positive economic developments globally and considering the excellent results we achieved last year, we have decided to continue investing in accessibility. Thus, we aim to pass the savings on to our customers and to keep prices as low as possible. It’s a conscious business decision to operate on smaller margins to support those who want to make the most of their homes. We strive to always stand by as many people as possible, and we believe that, in the context of rising living costs, it’s more important than ever to do so. At the same time, by offering even more affordable products without compromising on quality, design, functionality, and sustainability, we believe it’s also a way to continue our growth trajectory,” said Ekaterina Egorova, CEO and CSO at IKEA Southeast Europe.
