Increase of almost 13 pc of used cars imports in Romania at end-October

The imports of rolled cars grew in the first 10 months of this year by 12.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching to 204,000 units, the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA) in Romania data show.

The increasing trend of second-hand cars imports led to such a ratio of 3.2 to 1 between rolled cars imports and new cars sales, slightly higher compared to the one registered after the same period of 2014, respectively 3.1 to 1.

In terms of car sales on the Romanian market, they are further supported by legal entities, their share of the total in the first 10 months of 2015 being of 73 percent (with a ratio of 68 percent vs. 32 percent for legal entities in October).

33.1 percent are cars of domestic origin, 17.4 percent are imported from Germany, 10 percent in the Czech Republic, 7.8 percent in Spain and 7.4 percent in France.

In this context, the sales of domestic production cars have increased in the 10 months of 2015 by 26.5 percent compared to the same period in 2014, while sales of imported cars registered a much lower growth, respectively by 11.2 percent, according to APIA.
