Increased air traffic on Bucharest’s airports of almost 12 pc at end-September

Almost 7.037 million passengers have passed through the two airports in Bucharest in the first nine months of this year, up by 11.43 percent over the same period of the previous year, Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) announced in a press release on Tuesday.

During January-September 2015, on Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport and Bucharest-Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport 81,776 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings) were recorded and air traffic of 7,037,624 passengers, of which 7,033,901 passengers registered on Henri Coanda Airport.

Also, 73,184 aircraft movements were recorded on Romania’s main airport, Otopeni.

The evolution of the passengers’ number on Bucharest Airports National Company’s two airports exceeds the general trend registered within Europe.

Bucharest airports recorded also an increase in the number of aircraft movements, surpassing in this chapter the European trend. Thus, within 2015’s first nine months, the number of aircraft movements at airports in Bucharest increased by 6 percent over last year’s same period.

In 2014, Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport and Bucharest-Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport were transited by 8,321,858 passengers, the number of aircraft movements (landings and takeoffs) rising to 102.048. The estimates for the end of this year show reaching the threshold of 9 million passengers.

31 airlines are currently operating on Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, carrying passengers to 70 destinations.
