ING Romania plans to redesign the operational activities in 33 branches and integrate the banking services on the company’s digital platforms. According to a press release throughout 2018, ING will make the transition to a digital self-service model and will recreate the operational flow. ING’s footprint of 180 branches at the national level will not be affected.

”ING Romania has reinvented itself in the past years and reinvented the customer experience. Since 2014, we invested heavily in technology and innovation, with visible results in business.”, said Michal Szczurek, CEO ING Romania.

According to him, the financial institution plans to redesign the banking operations in the branches by the end of this year, using mainly digital channels – such as the internet platforms and interfaces available in the offices – as well as alternative channels.

The digital banking model reflects the ING clients’ behavior who use digital platforms for 99 percent of their basic transactions. The bank will transfer the classic cash deposits to its network of 600 ATMs, which will allow clients to make cash deposits 24h/7. Corporate clients can benefit from cash and debit instruments collection from the companies’ offices.

ING will implement an extensive and responsible career reorientation program for colleagues who currently work in operational roles in the branches, including counselling, vocational guidance, training sessions and support. ING’s objective is to offer career opportunities in the company for as many colleagues as possible and increase the chances of reintegrating them within the new roles and on the labour market.

ING Romania launched the first automated and digitalized services in 2004 when pioneered the Self’Bank concept, and in 2006 when launched the internet banking platform, Home’Bank. Starting 2014, the company made significant investments in technology in order to offer clients digital products like savings, euro accounts, mutual funds and the digital personal loans.

ING Romania operates through a network of 180 offices and offers services to 1.1 million active individual clients, 12,000 mid-corporate clients and 1000 multinationals and large corporate clients .
