’Mihail Kogalniceanu’ International Airport Constanta registered last year a total (commercial and non-commercial) traffic of 135,742 passengers, up 18 percent against 2016, a press release informs.
At the same time, it reported a number of 6,478 aircraft movements (landings and take-offs) with 45 percent over the same period last year.
”Regarding the commercial passenger traffic, the growth rate for 2017 versus 2016 is 28 percent, with 127,635 passengers resulting from regular flights, charter and general aviation being the third consecutive year when the passenger traffic increases by more than 25 percent,” the company notes.
The increase in commercial passenger traffic was due to the existing routes such as Istanbul and London, as well as the opening of the Blue Air operational base to Constanta with external destinations (Paris, Roma, Brussels, Milan) and domestic destinations (Timisoara, Cluj Napoca, Iasi, Oradea).
“The main traffic objective for 2018 is to strengthen the existing routes and further attract new air operators, forecasting a 5 percent increase in commercial traffic,” the release reads.
In this context, as of June 16, Nordica, Estonia’s national airline company, launches new direct flights on the Tallinn – Constanta route and returns, starting with a weekly frequency and as of June 27 with two frequencies/week.
