Jolly Scarpe Romania, a manufacturer of footwear for the army and firefighters with a factory in Bucharest, was bought by a subsidiary of the American company Lakeland Industries for 2 million euros, Economica.net reported.
According to a company decision, on February 5, Minerva Manufacture de Chaussures, a Swiss company and sole shareholder of Jolly Scarpe Romania, sold all its shares in the company to Lakeland Global Safety Ltd, a British company, for 2 million euros.
Jolly Scarpe Romania is a manufacturer of protective footwear for soldiers and firefighters and the subsidiary of the Jolly Scarpe company in Italy. The Romanian company had net business of 25.3 million lei in 2022, 22% lower than in 2021, net profit of 162,346 lei, almost six times lower than that achieved in 2021, according to balance sheets compared by Economica.net. The protective footwear manufacturer worked with an average number of 133 employees during 2022, down 4 people on the payroll compared to the level of the 2021 indicator. Jolly Scarpe was founded in 1983 by Giuliano Zanatta in Montebelluna, Italy.
Lakeland Global Safety LTD is the UK subsidiary of the American company Lakeland Industries, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of protective equipment for employees in the oil, gas, hazardous waste, chemical, fire, and defense industries. The company was founded in Ronkonkoma, New York in 1982.
