Lidl enters the tourist services market in Romania through Lidl Tour, after the German discounter has expanded in April the secondary object of its activity with travel agency services, a press release informs on Monday.
Thus, as of June 15, Lidl launches www.lidltour.ro, the online store through which will sell vacations to its clients.
For this, Lidl will work with TUI TravelCenter and Karpaten Tourism.
“In line with Lidl Romania priority to support the local economy, Lidl Tour promotes local tourism, having in its portfolio the most beautiful destinations in Romania, but customers can also choose packages with destinations outside the country, in Europe or exotic countries. Lidl Tour offer includes cruises, tours, stays,” the press release reads.
Each purchased package via Lidl Tour will include an additional benefit.
Danube Delta, Greece, Bulgaria, Spain, Turkey, Italy, India, Morocco, Dominican Republic, and other destinations in Romania, Mamaia or Predeal, are included in Lidl Tour offer.
Lidl also offers travel packages in Germany, Austria, Switzerland (Lidl-Reisen), Netherlands (Lidl-Reizen) and Italy (Lidl-Viaggi).
With a network of 192 stores, German retailer Lidl recorded last year in Romania a net turnover of RON 4.72 billion (EUR 1.062 billion), up by 21.5 percent compared to 2014 and a net profit of RON 172 million (EUR 38.7 million), 2.8 times higher, according to Ministry of Finance data.
