TAROM Board of Directors decided on Thursday to appoint Eugen Davidoiu (photo) the new CEO of the airline, replacing Dan Plaveti whose term as interim director has ended rightly, a press release informs.
Romanian flag carrier TAROM posted a RON 28.6 million loss in the first half of 2016, eight times higher than planned, due to technical problems. TAROM recalled the poor performance of the former management executive in the January-March 2016 period, which too “had a negative impact on financial results”.
Ex-transport minister Dan Costescu suspended March last year, flag carrier TAROM’s CEO Christian Heinzmann from office due to unjustified losses posted by the company and too many sick days taken by its staff.
There were several incidents of TAROM lately, especially due to technical failure. Last Airbus A310 from the fleet of TAROM national air carrier named Transilvania, made its last flight on October 29 last year on the Madrid-Bucharest route. On September 12, 2016, another Airbus A310, bought in 1992, was withdrawn from service.
Consequently, the airline announced at end-2016 that is in discussions with Airbus and Boeing for its fleet renewal.
