Medicover, one of the main private medical services providers in Romania, has concluded the acquisition procedure of Academica Medical Center. The transaction is consolidating the private healthcare player’s presence in Bucharest, where the company already has a hospital, a maternity hospital and ten clinics.
The transaction consists of taking over all shares of the two Academica clinics in Bucharest, both located in premium residential areas, such as Aviatorilor and Pitar Mos.
„We are happy to announce that Medicover network is continuing its expansion (…) These two premium locations in Bucharest represent an additional step in the company’s growth strategy this year,” said Adrian Peake, General Manager, Medicover Romania.
He said that the Academica Medical Center has built a very good, well deserved reputation, by providing high quality medical services. „What the two clinics and Medicover have in common is the concern for patients and the passion for excellence,” Peake added.
This is the second large transaction inked by Medicover in 2018 after the acquisition of Pelican hospital from Oradea in March. The transaction makes Medicover the main private healthcare services provider in northwestern Romania.
Romania thus continues to be the third largest market for Medicover, a Swedish healthcare and diagnostic services provider, after Poland and Germany, bringing almost 13 percent of total group income.
Medicover is represented on local market by Medicover Romania and Synevo Romania.
In the first quarter of 2018, Medicover reported revenues of EUR 21.2 million on the local market, up by 19.1 percent, from EUR 17.8 million in the same period of 2017, according to the company’s latest statistics released in April this year.
