Medicover, the Swedish private healthcare provider operating in Romania, has announced a new greenfield investment in Bucharest for the development of an ultramodern hospital. The new hospital comes to support patients with a multi-disciplinary medical team that will have state-of-the-art equipment and technologies.
Following an estimated investment of 20 million euros, the future Medicover hospital will have an operating room with eight operating rooms, an integrated outpatient clinic, a High Tech imaging department and over 150 beds. The hospital welcomes patients and visitors with a modern waiting area, which will include a cafeteria and a generous 281-space car park for easy and quick access.
Medicover Romania recently signed a 15-year agreement, with the possibility of extension, with the building owner, the real estate development company Multigalaxy.
“We have made a long-term commitment to increase the quality of medical services in Romania through investments in excellence and medical performance that produce a strong impact in the community. The organization and endowment of the new hospital in Romania will benefit from the international expertise of the Medicover group, present in twelve countries”, said Fredrik Rågmark, CEO of Medicover.
“Through this greenfield investment, we want to make available to the beneficiaries of medical services, and not only, an extensive portfolio of multi-specialized medical services, which integrates patients’ health care in an integrated way. We are proud to strengthen our local presence and involvement to serve the most dynamic region in Romania,” said John Stubbington, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Medicover Healthcare Services.
“We will build a hospital for the future of medical care,” said Dr. Florinela Cirstina, general manager of Medicover Romania. “The investment will reflect everything we have learned about healthcare in Medicover’s 26 years of activity in Romania, applying best practices and developing a hospital where we will operate efficiently and use the latest technological advances for the benefit of our patients.”
The investment involves the transformation and return to the community of an office building with an area of 15,000 square meters, located on Glucose Factory Road no. 11, near the Bucharest-Ploiești highway as well as the two Medicover clinics in the Pipera area, meeting the needs of patients. Thus positioned, the new hospital will serve an extended population located in the Bucharest metropolitan area.
