The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) approved on Tuesday the right to participate in the Romanian electricity markets for Metlen Energy & Metals SA, a company from Greece. It is one of the largest companies in Greece and covers two sectors of activity, energy and metallurgy.
It has a turnover of over 5 billion euros and over 6,583 employees in Greece and abroad. The group was founded in 1990, after the transformation of a family business that had been operating since 1908.
In 1995 it was listed on the Athens Stock Exchange. In 2017, the parent company absorbed its own subsidiaries (Aluminium of Greece, METKA, Protergia), forming a Greek multinational industrial and energy company.
In recent years, it has expanded its activities to all continents. In the energy sector, Metlen is the largest private Greek company. Metlen is also a leader in the metallurgy industry.
