After an almost 7-year mandate as CEO of ING Romania, Michal Szczurek was appointed Head of Retail in ING Asia. He is expected to start in his new role on 1st of July.

“This year ING Bank Romania celebrates its 25th anniversary and this allowed me to look back not just on the 7 years I spent here, but on what the people of ING have created. And I say created because only through their effort and dedication we are the 6th bank in Romania, with no outside acquisitions. ING Romania is more than just a successful startup which grew up to be a serious, relevant bank. It has been changing the lives of Romanians, making banking easy, efficient, friendly, saving Clients’ time and effort and truly empowering them” said Michal Szczurek.

Szczurek has an over 20-year career in the banking industry, having a significant role in creating the biggest pension fund in Poland. When joining ING Bank, he was Head of Retail in ING Bank Poland, and before taking on the role of CEO in ING Bank Romania, he managed the Retail Banking division of TMB Thailand for three years, where he successfully executed the turnaround of the former state-owned bank and created a profitable retail business.
