Miele, the German family-run company, reports a sales increase by 82 percent in the first quarter (January – March 2015) on the domestic market, compared to the same period last year.
According to a press release, the world’s leading manufacturer of premium domestic appliances this is the highest quarterly increase in sales recorded by Miele in Romania. Last year, German-based manufacturer registered an annual turnover of about RON 10 million on the local market.
Miele sales growth in Q1 was supported by the strategy implemented starting with 2014: a new representation of the brand by relocating the showroom from Otopeni to Square Press (Piata Presei) – Bucharest, as well as by signing new partnerships and expand the distribution network.
Earlier this year, Miele launched in Romania the online premium home appliance showroom on the eMAG Marketplace platform, which lists the full range of products available in the offline showroom in Bucharest, as well as at partners across the country. This partnership is a unique project in Romania and will generate up to 5 percent of all sales made by Miele on the local market this year, the company estimates.
“Premium appliance market in Romania is growing, giving us the right context to deploy without deviations Miele strategy established for Romania,” Loredana Butnaru, Miele Romania sales director stated in the press release.
According to her, Miele premium home appliance sales are expected to continue their increase throughout the year. “We are confident that a change of strategy for Romania in 2014 will ensure us a sustained growth for the next five years,” Butnaru also said.
Currently, Miele Romania has a network of 30 partners and 55 stores and will continue to make new partnerships as part of the company’s development strategy which targets mainly the presence in offline shops.
