A relative stability of activity in manufacturing and retail trade is reported in the Romanian economy, according to the latest report on the “Trends in the evolution of the economic activity in Romania” reviewing October-December 2019, released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) today.
Moreover, the study also points to a relative stability in the number of employees in manufacturing and services and to a moderate price growth in all sectors.
Manufacturing
According to the business tendency survey of October 2019, managers from the manufacturing industry forecast a relative stability of the production volume (balance +4%) for the next three months. The most robust growth is estimated for the manufacturing of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (balance +38%), followed by the manufacturing of other transport equipment and by the manufacturing of tobacco products (balance +35%). Regarding the number of employees, a relative stability is estimated, the balance being -3% per total manufacturing. For the prices of the industrial products, a moderate growth is forecast for the next three months (balance +8%).
Construction
According to October 2019 estimations, there will be a decrease in the production volume of the construction activity for the next three months (balance -19%). Managers forecast a moderate decrease in the number of employees (balance -10%). As to the prices of construction works, a moderate growth is forecast (balance +7).
Retail trade
In the retail trade sector, managers estimate a relative stability in the economic activity for the next three months (balance +4%). The volume of orders placed by the trade units to the suppliers of goods will register a moderate growth (balance +10%). Employers forecast a growth in the number of employees (balance +17%) for the next three months. For the next period, managers of trade companies estimate a moderate growth of the retail prices (balance +15%).
Services
According to October 2019 estimations, the demand for services (turnover) will register a moderate growth for the next three months (balance +6%). For the services sector it is forecast a relative stability in the number of employees (balance +2%). According to the managers, the selling or invoice prices of provisions will register a moderate growth trend (balance +6%).
