Moldelectrica, Transelectrica signed cooperation agreement in electricity

Romania’s Transelectrica and Moldelectrica from Rep. of Moldova have initialed a bilateral cooperation agreement in electricity, including also investment to upgrade and develop electricity infrastructure in Moldova, Ministry of Economy announced in a press release on Wednesday.

The document was signed in Chisinau, following a meeting of the Joint Working Group on Energy within the Inter-governmental Commission Romania – Moldova.

Particularly, the two parts discussed about new development phases of the Iasi – Ungheni pipeline on Moldova’s territory up to Chisinau, and in Romania, up to Onesti. In terms of electricity, there were discussed the future actions regarding the implementation of the first asynchronous interconnection Isaccea – Vulcanesti – Chisinau.

Romanian delegation was headed by Sorana Baciu, State Secretary with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Relations with Business Environment, and Corina Popescu, State Secretary with the Ministry of Energy.

Working Group on Energy was created as a result of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two governments on projects for interconnecting the networks of natural gas and electricity in Romania and Moldova, signed in Chisinau in May 2015.
