New brand to enter the domestic building materials market

Romanian construction materials supplier Arabesque will open next week in Iasi, the first store under the new MatHaus brand, dedicated to individual customers, a press release informs.

The investment of about EUR 10 million creates over 100 new jobs.

The store is covering an area of 9,000 square meters indoor and 14,000 square meters of outdoor platform, offering about 25,000 products.

“MatHaus, Arabesque’s retail brand , is designed to bring company’s experience of more than 20 years, to all those who need to renovate, repair or build,” Radu Munteanu, Arabesque Area Manager, stated.

Established in 1994 by Rapotan family, Arabesque is one of the main distributors of building materials and finishes.

Arabesque has a network of 34 shopping centres and warehouses in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Brasov, Constanta, Iasi, Craiova, Ploiesti, Pitesti, Galati, Piatra Neamt, Bacau, Focsani, Targu Mures, Oradea and Baia Mare.

On the external, Arabesque opened the first store in Chisinau, Rep. of Moldova, in 2005, Ukraine was next, where it has a network of 20 branches in major cities, operating under Budmax name. In September 2007, the company opened a subsidiary in Sofia, Bulgaria, and later that year opened a center in Serbia.
