New car registrations in Romania, up by almost 20 pc in 2016 yoy

In 2016, compared to 2015, the new registrations of cars increased by 19.4 percent, National Institute of Statistics (INS) data reveal.

In Q4 of 2016, compared to the same quarter of 2015, the registrations of road vehicles  for passenger transport registered both rises and drops.

The most significant rise registered the category mopeds and motor cycles by 32.2 percent, while the category buses and minibuses dropped by 38.5 percent.

In Q4 of 2016, the new registrations of road vehicles for passenger transport increased  by 6 percent year-on-year, while the new registrations of vehicles for goods transport increased  by 2.9 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

In the same period, the new registrations of road vehicles for goods transport increased by 8.9 percent for trailers and semi trailers, by 1.1 percent for lorries and by 0.3 percent for road tractors.

Compared to Q3 of 2016, in Q4 of the same year, the new registrations of road vehicles for passenger transport decreased by 15.9 percent, while the  new  registrations of road vehicles for goods transport decreased by 3.2 percent.
