The number of newly established foreign capital companies increased by 16.2 percent in January, compared to the same month of the previous year, to 380 units, according to the National Trade Register Office (ONRC) data.
The 380 new companies had a subscribed share capital of over USD 1.73 million, down 72 percent compared to January 2017.
Last year, 5,837 of these companies were set up in Romania, 9.1 percent above the 2016 level, when it was the weakest year in the last 18 years for newly established foreign capital companies.
During 1991-2017, 215,651 companies with foreign participation in the capital were set up, the total amount of the subscribed share capital reaching over USD 61.3 billion.
Out of the 215,651 firms, 45,542 companies have Italian capital.
