62,000 vacant jobs in Q1, most in public administration

A total of 62,200 jobs were vacant in the first quarter of this year, up by 1,500 as compared to the previous quarter, while the highest vacancies were registered in the public administration (3.95%), the National Statistics Institute (INS) informed on Thursday.
In Q1 2017, the vacancy rate was of 1.31%, up by 0.02 percentage points against the previous quarter. As compared to the same quarter in 2016, the vacancy rate increased by 0.04 percentage points and the number of vacant jobs increased by 3,900.
In the first three months of this year, the highest vacancy rates were registered in the public administration (3.95%), followed by health and social assistance (3.02%), cultural and recreational activities (2.62%).
In manufacturing there were 15,800 vacancies, i.e. 1.34%.
The budget sector amounted to just over 36% of the total number of vacancies. Thus, 10,400 vacant jobs are in the public administration, 9,900 vacant jobs in health and social assistance, namely 2,300 vacant jobs in education.
At the opposite end, the lowest values of both the rate and the number of vacancies were in mining and quarrying (0.15% and 100 vacant jobs respectively).
