ANSVSA: Romania received the status of ‘negligible risk country’ for bovine spongiform encephalopathy
World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has officially informed the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) that, as of December 8, 2015, Romania regained its status of “country with negligible risk for bovine spongiform encephalopathy”.
The decision was taken by the Scientific Commission of OIE, which concluded that Romania has complied with the Terrestrial Code and is qualified to restore the status of ‘negligible risk country for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE)’, according to a ANSVSA release.
The status of ‘country with negligible risk for bovine spongiform encephalopathy’ will boost trade with other countries, particularly with China, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, UAE, by unlocking exports of cattle and beef.
