CNP keeps the economic growth outlook for this year at 5.2 pc

The National Commission for Economic Forecasting (CNP) maintains its economic growth estimate for this year at 5.2 percent, but with a nominal rise of 0.15 percent from the previous forecast to RON 816.5 billion, according to the Medium-term Spring Prognosis 2017 – 2020 released on Thursday.

For the 2018, CNP forecasts a real economic growth of 5.5 percent

The institution also estimates a drop in household consumption from 7.3 percent in 2016, to 6.8 percent this year, and in public administration from 3.3 percent to 1.6 percent.

As regards the private investment, they are estimated to go up by 6.9 percent from a negative figure of -3.3 percent in 2016. Compared to the winter forecast, CNP forecasted for 2016 an increase in private investment of 6.3 percent and 7.2 percent for 2017.

For the trade balance, CNP sees the same value of deficit of over EUR 11.55 billion.
