The Competition Council has announced on Wednesday that it has carried out unannounced inspections at E-Distributie Muntenia (formerly Enel Distributie Muntenia) and at the offices of four companies that design and execute electrical connection systems: Electrical Power Consulting SRL, Simco International Impex SRL, the Institute for Studies and Power Engineering – ISPE SA and Servicii Energetice Muntenia SA.

The inspections were conducted within the framework of the investigation regarding the possible abuse of the dominant position of the electricity distribution operator, E-Distributie Muntenia, in the area for which it holds the license issued by ANRE, with effects also on the related services market, respectively on the elaboration of the studies, the design and execution of connection installations, etc.

The Competition Authority suspects that E-Distribution Muntenia allegedly discriminates some companies providing related services by selecting the operators on other criteria than those provided by the legislation in force. In this way, consumers could also be affected by EDM, by influencing the proposed technical solutions to users, by the duration and cost of connections to the power grid, and the consumers’ option to choose the service providers.

Representatives of E-Distributie Muntenia sent a statement to our editorial office.

„An inspection of the Competition Council was conducted regarding the grid connection process applied by E-Distributie Muntenia. The company is fully cooperating by providing access to all the documents and information requested. We cannot make any other comments at this point.”
