As of November 1, 2016, François Bloch will succeed Philippe Lhotte as CEO of BRD, a press release informs on Wednesday. Lhotte remains member of BRD’s Board, while he will take other responsibilities within Societe Generale Group.
“Philippe Lhotte has successfully achieved to transform and to adapt BRD in order to strengthen its position on Romanian market in a challenging environment. To continue the balanced and sustainable development which has generated good financial and commercial results we communicate today, wide-ranging experience in banking of François Bloch – and in particular his in-depth international experience – will be key support and drive,” Gianluca Soma, Chairman of BRD’s Board of Directors commented on this appointment
The appointment of François Bloch is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Romania.

BRD-Groupe Société Générale is the second bank in Romania considering the total assets’ volume. BRD – Groupe Société Générale has 2.2 million active customers and operates a network of 818 units.
BRD has a leading position on the card market with approx. 2.2 million cards and a network acceptance of more than 26,000 POS and 1,500 ATMs. With factoring operations of EUR 921 million in 2015, BRD is the leader of the factoring market. Total assets of the Bank at June 30, 2016 end amounted to RON 48.4 billion.
