As of this May, the local subsidiary of Israeli’s Bank Leumi appointed Gil Karni to serve as the new CEO of the financial institution, a press release informs, thus replacing Romanian Laurentiu Mitrache, after 10 years of leading the bank’s operations.
Karni has been working within the Israeli bank and its subsidiaries for more than 20 years.
He returns to Romania after holding the post of CEO with the Luxembourg branch for 5 years. Before this, he has been director of Real Estate and the Romanian subsidiary of the bank for three years.
Bank Leumi Romania is the local subsidiary of Leumi Bank Ie-Israel, one of the most powerful financial groups in Israel. Established in 1902 in London, Bank Leumi le-Israel has an international network of over 250 branches and representatives.
The bank is present locally since 2006 and has 15 units across the most important cities in Romania.
