Gov’t cuts VAT to 5% for traditional products, Fin Min Teodorovici says

The Government has decided to cut the VAT to 5% for traditional products, Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici has announced on Tuesday.

According to the minister, this normative act was among the expected decisions and brings benefits to both citizens and the economy.

“In order to stimulate the consumption of healthy food and to boost the sale of traditional Romanian products, mountainous, eco, bio or other products authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Government has decided to cut the VAT to 5% for the delivery of food, including beverages, except for the alcoholic beverages, intended for human and animal consumption, animals and live birds of domestic species, seeds, plants and ingredients used in the preparation of foodstuffs, products used to supplement or replace food,” Minister Teodorovici explained at Victoria Palace at the end of the Government sitting on Tuesday.
