According to a document released today, Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) has not declared profit in the past five years, hotnews.ro informs. The document lists 31 commercial banks which have not declared profit and have not paid profit tax (corporate tax) during 2012-2016. Some of them are undergoing bankruptcy and insolvency procedures, nevertheless the list also includes banks which do not face such problems. Among them BCR, Piraeus Bank, OTP Bank, Garanti Bank, the source reads.

Finance Minister Ionut Misa was heard on Tuesday by the Senate’s Economy Committee on the issue of banks that have declared losses in the past years. The senators requested the list of these banks. The minister said this is information related to the fiscal secret, however the list may be handed to the committee, which is to further decide on the next steps.
