How important are Romania’s losses following the US taxes on EU steel and aluminium exports?
This is the question Ianc Petru, Chairman of the Romanian Society for Metallurgy has tried to answer. According to the expert, quoted by g4media.ro, most affected are the steel exports. Thus, Romania risks losing exports to the United States amounting to 120,000 tons of steel and 4,000 tons of aluminium.
The US have set taxes of 25% for steel and 10% on aluminium exports coming from the European Union.
The main steel producers in Romania are Tenaris Silcotub Zalău, TMK Artrom Slatina, Petrotub Roman.
Alro Slatina is the sole aluminium producer.
