Hunedoara Energy Complex is ready to lay off more than 400 miners, although, early this year, the demand for coal was on the rise. Despite being assured that the closing of the mines will take place without collective layoffs, the complex will proceed to redundancies, Romania-actualitati.ro informs.

No less than 460 miners at the Lupeni and Lonea mines – to be closed, will be laid off and will receive compensatory gross payments amounting to RON 37,000 from the National Company for Mine Closures in Valea Jiului.

Although the notice for redundancy will be handed in November, the administration and the trade unions have already started the necessary steps, considering that the decision has to be approved by the Shareholders General Assembly and the state should allot the money for the compensatory payments.
