Hans Timmer, World Bank’s Chief Economist for Europe and Central Asia Region, said he wouldn’t advise Romania to join the Eurozone too soon, given the problems of this area.
For Romania it is important to maintain the right direction. Before the crisis, your greatest vulnerability the current account deficit. For now you must wait the Eurozone to stabilize and recover as much as possible the gaps against the West before deciding to join the euro zone, Timmer said during the Economic Forum in Krynica, Poland.
He stated that wage differences between Germany and Poland will flatten over the next ten years, but for other countries in Eastern Europe like Romania the road will be longer.
