Industrial production up by 1.4 pc in five months

Industrial production increased by 1.4% in the first five months of the year against the same period last year, as gross series, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs.

The processing industry registered a growth of 2.4% as gross series, and of 2% as adjusted series.

Mining and production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning decreased by 19.4% and by 1.9% respectively, INS informs.

In May 2016 industrial production fell against the previous month as gross series and as adjusted series by 1.3% and by 4% respectively. Against the same month in 2015, the production grew by 1.5% as gross series and fell by 1.6% as adjusted series. Mining industry fell by 25.4%, INS informs.
