Insolvencies up by 8.85pc in 10 months

The number of companies and authorized persons (PFA) becoming insolvent has increased by 8.85% in the first ten months of this year, as compared to the same period in 2016, to 7,344 units, according to the figures published on the website of the National Trade Register Office (ORNC).

Most companies and PFAs in insolvency are from Bucharest, respectively 1,601, up by 17.46% against January-October 2016, the capital city being followed by the counties of Iasi – 433 cases (+19.23%), Bihor – 402 cases (-14.1%) and Constanţa – 311 (+19.16%).

The largest number of insolvencies was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – 2,238 cases, up by 7.75%.

In October this year, 903 firms and PFAs went into insolvency, most of them in Bucharest (208), Bihor (51) and Iasi counties (48).

During January-October 2017, 13,249 companies have suspended their activity (-2.9%) and 24,254 have been dissolved (-5.2%).
