Most foreign tourists in Romania are Italians
The arrivals in the structures for tourist accommodations have increased by 15% in the first four months of this year, as compared to the same period last year, to over 2.58 million, a press release from the National Statistics Institute (INS) released on Friday informs.
“Of the total arrivals, the arrivals of Romanian tourists in the tourist accommodations were in the first four months of this year of 76.9%, while foreign tourists represented 23.1%, similar percentages to the similar period last year. In terms of foreign tourist, the biggest share was held by those from Europe (75.2% of total foreign tourists), and of these 83.4% were from countries belonging to the European Union,” reads the release.
Overnight stays during the period totalled 5.1 million, up by 12.9% against the first four months of 2015.
Most tourist arrivals were from Italy (66,700), Germany (60,800), Israel (58,800), France (38,500) and UK (37,100).
According to INS, the departures of Romanian visitors abroad registered at border points were of over 4.522 million (in the first four months), up by 16.3% as compared to the same period in 2015. Road transport means were most used for trips abroad, representing 69.2% of total departures.
