Net monthly average earnings up by 14.3pc in 2017

The net monthly average wage in the national economy in 2017 was of RON 2,338, up by 14.3% (+RON 292), as compared to the previous year, while the employers spent on average per month RON 4,008/employee, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

The gross monthly average earnings per total economy in 2017 were of RON 3,223, by 14.7% (+RON 414) higher than in 2016.

The highest net monthly average wages in the national economy were recorded in information and communications (2 times higher), financial intermediation and insurance (+84.3%), public administration (+64, 3%), mining and quarrying (+56.8%), production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+47.0%), professional, scientific and technical activities (+33.9%), health and social care (+14.3%), respectively in education (+2.1%).

The number of employees on December 31, 2017 was of more than 5.362 million, up by 138,600 persons as compared to the end of the previous year.
