Net nominal average wage down to RON 2,936 in January
The net nominal average wage dropped to RON 2,936 in January, down by 0.7% against December 2018, and the gross nominal average wage was of RON 4,847, by 2% lower against the same period, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs.
The highest net wages were in IT (RON 6,768) and the lowest in the manufacture of garments (RON 1,718).
As compared to January 2018, the net wage was higher by 18.2%.
The most significant decreases in net wages were in forestry (minus 30.3%) and the highest increases in ore extraction.
In the state employees sector increases were registered following the enforcing of the legal provisions for the staff paid from public funds: education (+9.9%), public administration (6.2%), health and social assistance (+3.2%)
The real wage earnings index against the same period last year was 114.4% and of 98.5% in January 2019 as compared to the previous month.
As compared to October 1990, the index was 206.9%, by 3.2% percentage points lower than the one in December 2018.
