New car registrations, up by almost 70pc in Q4 2017

New car registrations increased in Romania by 68.1% in the last quarter of 2017, compared to the same period of the previous year, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informed on Tuesday.

Also, new passenger car registrations increased by 67.4% in Q4 2017, as compared to the last quarter of 2016, with the most significant increase being in the car segment, i.e. by 68.1%.

During the same period, registrations of new vehicles for goods transport increased by 12.2%. On this segment, there were increases in lorries and trailers and semi-trailers by 22.8% and 4% respectively, and by 13.5% in the tractors category.

INS informs that, as compared to Q3 2017, in Q4 the same year, new passenger car registrations increased by 6.5% and registrations of vehicles for goods transport by 5.4%.

Last year 638,485 road vehicles were registered for passenger transport, by 57.24% more than in 2016, of which 627,743 passenger cars, by 58.3% more than last year.
