Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu has paid a visit to Ford plant in Craiova on Friday, saying it is very important for large international companies to find in Romania “an attractive environment” in order to develop.
“It is very important for large international companies to find in our country an attractive environment, so that their businesses – as it is the case of Ford in Craiova – open in a proper environment, to develop, as it is happening,” PM Grindeanu said.
Grideanu added that he wanted to visit the Ford factory in order to convey a message of encouragement.
“I wanted to come today to Craiova to salute what will in fact happen in the coming period, namely the expansion of the company in Craiova, by hiring nearly 1,000 people more, which means very much. As I understand, the production line of the new motor vehicle will be commissioned this autumn. That’s good,” Grindeanu said.
At the Ford plant, the prime minister visited the stamping and body shop and the final assembly shop, accompanied by Ford Europe Vice President and COO Steven Armstrong, Ford Europe Vice President, Government and Community Relations Andrew McCall, and Ford Romania CEO John Oldham.
Ford Romania on Thursday said it will recruit 976 new workers for the production of its small class Ford EcoSport SUV at its factory in Craiova that starts this autumn.
“We have announced the Ford representatives that by end of May the design documentation for further execution (of the Pitesti-Craiova express road – our note) will be finalized so that it can be launched for auction. This makes us optimistic, looking at certain deadlines. In autumn this year we know the auction winner – early next year will begin the effective implementation of the connection between Pitesti and Craiova. It is extremely important not just for Ford, but for the 600 trucks that will travel daily on the road,” Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu said on Friday in Craiova.
