Romania has received the official agreement of the Turkish authorities to start exports of live cattle, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) announced on Friday.
“Following negotiations between the Minister of Agriculture Achim Irimescu and his Turkish counterpart Faruk Çelik, as well as the of the due diligence taken by the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) to the similar institution in Turkey, the Romanian authorities have received on June 9, 2016 a letter from the Turkish side, revealing openness to unblock the imports of live cattle from Romania,” reads a MADR press release.
Negotiations have been conducted by the Ministers of Agriculture of Romania and Turkey on the sidelines of the Regional Conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) for Europe, held in Turkey (Antalya) during May 3-5, 2016.
In the next period, ANSVSA and the Turkish veterinary authority will seal the veterinary certification conditions for the export of live cattle.
