Swedish Ambassador inaugurates the first bilateral Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Romania

Swedish Ambassador to Romania, Anneli Lindahl Kenny, has inaugurated on Thursday, in Cluj-Napoca, the first Regio Romanian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Romania, the diplomat saying she enjoys the development of bilateral business.

At the inauguration, Anneli Lindahl Kenny said in Cluj-Napoca she is glad the event is taking place in Cluj Napoca.

“I am glad that I am present at the inauguration of the Regio Romanian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and that this event takes place in Cluj-Napoca. We are glad to develop the business ties. I wish success to the new Chamber of Commerce,” the Swedish Ambassador said.

The President of the Regio Romanian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Anca Ciubancan, said in turn that the purpose of establishing the new institution is to promote the Romanian companies in Sweden and to attract Swedish investors in Romania.

“We intend to develop social projects too, in Sweden a rather important problem is the Roma issue and we try to integrate them into Romania – this is another purpose of the Chamber. The new Romanian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is the first of its kind in Romania and in the following period we will open branches in Bucharest in September, then in Timisoara and Iasi. The new chamber has, for now, a number of 12 founding members,” Ciubancan said.

The event was attended, among others, by the president of the Romania-Sweden Parliamentary Friendship Group, Senator Alexandru Cordoş, by the chairman of the Senate Foreign Policy Committee Petru Filip, by MPs, by local and county officials, by businessmen.

In Cluj area over 60 Swedish companies operate.
