The value of transactions performed on BVB fell by almost 19 pc after nine months

The total value of transactions on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) fell in the first nine months by 18.71 percent compared to the value recorded in the same period last year, a press release of Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) informs on Thursday.

During the analyzed period, the capital market in Romania is characterized by low volatility regime.

“The biggest drop was recorded by shares transaction (-38.94 percent), while the value of transactions with government securities increased by almost five times in the first nine months of the year compared to the same period of 2014,” the quoted document reads.

Acccording to ASF, although the Romanian capital market falls within frontier markets category, BET the main index of BVB had generally a lower volatility compared to indices of emerging stock markets in the vicinity and even than the indices of the mature European markets.

Between January 5-September 30, 2015, in the top of most liquid 20 companies on BVB (main market, shares) Fondul Proprietatea ranks first, followed by Banca Transilvania, Romgaz, BRD Group Societe Generale and Electrica.
