The Fish Trading Exchange was inaugurated in Tulcea on Monday by Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, in the presence of Agriculture Minister Petre Daea and Tulcea County Council Chairman, Horia Teodorescu.

The construction was completed in January 2016, but the investment, completed with a great share of European money, was not inaugurated because the building was not connected to the utilities network. The investment amounted to RON 28 million and will work as means for the first sale, adevarul.ro informs.

“The functioning of the fish exchange implies trading fish and fish products at a fair price, confirmed quality of the merchandise and eliminating black market speculation. We are helping fishermen and fish farms to develop their businesses, and the boarding houses will be able to provide tourists with truly traditional fishery products prepared from local fish,” Prime Minister Viorica Dancila said.

The Fish Trading Exchange operated two transactions last week, transactions needed to prove to the European Union that the system is working and to avoid sanctions of millions of euros, ziare.com reports. The warning was expressed last week by Ciceronius Cumpanasoiu, President of the Management Authority for the Fishing Operational Programme and Maritime Business, by which the money for the project was provided.
