Almost two thirds of the households in Romania (72.4%) have access to the internet from home, by 3.8 percentage points more than last year, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs on Thursday.
INS further informs that 62.9% of the mentioned households are in the urban areas.
Access to internet is more common in the households in Bucharest-Ilfov (8 out of 9 households), followed by the West and North-west regions. The lowest shares are registered in the North-east region (65.1%) and South-east (65.2%).
By types of connections, 82.1% are fix broadband, followed by broadband mobile (57.3%) and narrowband connections (12.5%).
Out of the people aged 16 to 74, the share of those who have used internet at least once is 78.8%, of which 89.7% in the past three months.
The share of men using internet is 79.7%, the share of women is 77.9%.
